Formulaic romance novels are harmful to women (adult novels with sexual knowledge)

But romance novels pose an invisible but potent threat to women's sexual and emotional health, according to a debate hosted by the British Medical Journal.
One review slammed the formulaic books for failing to promote safe sex, encouraging women to be patient in reaching orgasm, and defining relationship success as the ability to get pregnant quickly.

"If readers start to believe the stories romance novels offer, they are setting themselves up for trouble," says Jennifer Lawrence, a professor of psychology at Harvard Business School. "Sometimes the most thoughtful and wise thing we can do for our clients is to encourage them to put down the book and face reality."
Quillian published an article in the Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health.

Quillian also said: "We want women to be aware of their desires, rather than being 'aroused'. Our goal is to make our female clients understand that their first time may not be completely pleasurable, and they may not reliably orgasm through penetration, but they have value in themselves."
"We remind them of the stresses that come with pregnancy and parenting, and discourage them from viewing repeated pregnancies as evidence of the strength of their relationship."
